A police pursuit, a stolen cruiser and a tense standoff led to the arrest of 36-year-old Daniel Eagan overnight.

PLYMOUTH, MA – A Plymouth man was arrested overnight after allegedly leading police on a wild chase down Route 58 that culminated in a tense 20-minute standoff. Daniel Eagan, 36, faces a number of charges including theft, assault and multiple motor vehicle violations.

Around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, police in Hanson attempted to pull over a 2010 Chevy Malibu traveling north on Route 58 for speeding and driving through a stop sign at Indian Head Street and Liberty Street. The vehicle continued north and turned off its lights, attempting to flee to the area of the Hanover-Pembroke line before heading back into Hanson Center and onto Route 58 South, police said.

Near Lapham Street, the Malibu allegedly struck a Hanson police cruiser and attempted to force it off the road. The cruiser sustained minor damage.
