Plymouth Marijuana Bust: $150K+ of Pot Seized
Justin Healey, of Lakeville, was charged with running a huge marijuana operation through the mail.
PLYMOUTH, MA — A Lakeville man was charged with running a huge marijuana trafficking operation through the mail, authorities announced Friday. Justin Healey, 47, was found with 35 pounds of pot worth about $150,000, 100 jars of a marijuana derivative gel, multiple cell phones, and more than $5,000 in cash, police said.
Healey's operation involved mailing packages containing 10 pounds or more of marijuana from California to two Massachusetts residences — one in Plymouth and another in Kingston, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. Healey mailed the packages through the U.S. Postal Service and workers notified authorities after they became suspicious of the parcels, Cruz said.
Healey was arrested Thursday in Plymouth at his alleged stash house at 93 Cape Cod Ave. Police said they organized a sting, allowing a 12-pound package of marijuana that Healey mailed to arrive at the residence. Officers arrested Healey after he drove to the residence, picked up the package, and went inside, Cruz said. Inside, officers said they found 13 more pounds of marijuana, infused gel, drug distribution materials. Police said they seized another 10 pounds of marijuana at Healey's Kingston residence at 49 Main St.

Part of Healey's scheme involved mailing marijuana to the fictitious business "Jay's Vending" and listed the address as 49 Main St. in Kingston.
Healey on Friday pleaded not guilty to drug distribution charges. His bail was set at $5,000.

“The success of this investigation was about diligent and smart police work by State Police, the US Postal Investigators and our local police officers, working together to keep our communities safe and keep drugs out of them,” Cruz said in a statement.
Marijuana is currently legal to consume on private property in Massachusetts after voters in November approved a ballot measure. The drug is still illegal to mail and the personal limit is 10 ounces.
