Plymouth North Beats Duxbury In 2nd Round of Patriot Cup, 69-59
Julian Llopiz, Josh Campbell, and Cam Shaughnessy led Plymouth North to victory.
PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth North Blue Eagles Boys Basketball team faced the Duxbury Dragons on Sunday in the 2nd Round of the Patriot Cup. Plymouth North had home court because they are the #3 seed and Duxbury is the #5 seed in the Keenan Division.
In the 1st half, Plymouth North had a fast start where in the 1st quarter, they went on a 8-0 run, after Duxbury made its 2nd shot to make the score 4-2. After the score was 10-4 Plymouth North, then Duxbury went on a 4-2 run and Plymouth South held the lead at the end of the 1st quarter, 12-8. In the 2nd quarter, Plymouth South scored 20 and Duxbury scored 18 in the quarter. At the half, Plymouth South lead 32-26.
In the 3rd quarter, Duxbury caught up to Plymouth North by tying the score at 34 with 5:31 left in the quarter. Both teams went back and forth with the lead until Plymouth North went on a 9-0 run to end the quarter. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Plymouth North lead 48-41. In the 4th quarter, Plymouth North continued their scoring run ending at a 17-2 run when Duxbury’s Owen Burns went to the foul line after getting fouled and made the shot and he would make the free throw. At the end of the game, Plymouth North won 69-59 against Duxbury.

Senior Julian Llopiz led the scoring for Plymouth North with 20 points. Campbell and Cam Shaughnessy both also went into double figures as they scored 17 and 16 respectively. Duxbury’s Senior Captain Cam Regan led Duxbury in scoring with 17 points in the game.
Plymouth North will advance to the 3rd round in the Patriot Cup and will travel to Hanover to face the Hanover Indians on Tuesday at 5 p.m. Hanover lost to Hingham on Friday but they were the #1 and #2 seeds in their divisions so the loser gets to do a game at Round 3 and the winner gets to go to the Semifinals.
