Plymouth North Shut Out By Duxbury in Football Opener, 35-0

Stellar play from Duxbury's Matt Festa and Plymouth North's struggles paved way for the shut out.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth North football team started their Fall II season at home against the Duxbury on Friday Night.

In the first quarter, Duxbury in their first two possessions had an interception by Plymouth North senior Austin Littlewood and then a touchdown that was negated by an offensive holding call. Duxbury Sophomore quarterback Matt Festa scored the first touchdown for the team by a quarterback sneak into the end zone and extra point was good with 1:52 left in the quarter. At the end of the first quarter, Duxbury was up 7-0 over Plymouth North.

In the second quarter, Duxbury scored two more touchdowns on Plymouth South. First was a Festa touchdown pass to junior running back James Anderson for 15 yards. The other was another touchdown pass by Festa, this time to junior Campbell Pang for 9 yards. Festa would however throw another interception this time to Plymouth North junior Alec Peruzzi. Duxbury led at halftime, 21-0 over Plymouth North.

In the second half, Duxbury would score two more touchdowns to seal off the game. The first was to Brady Madigan for a 17-yard touchdown reception. The final touchdown of the game was from James Anderson when he had a 33-yard touchdown run breaking tackles from Plymouth North’s defense.

Plymouth North are scheduled to travel to Hingham on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest. Hingham did cancel their game against Marshfield on Friday due to a COVID exposure. Stay tuned to this post for any updates.
