Plymouth Opening Hurricane Shelter Sunday

Plymouth South Middle School will be open as a hurricane shelter Sunday, Aug. 28, as Irene rolls through the region.

The shelter will be supported and operated by Plymouth Public Schools and volunteer emergency staff.

RVs and campers will be allowed to park in the school's parking lot beginning Saturday. No services will be available at Plymouth South High School.

Pets will not be accepted at the shelter, and pet owners are advised to make arraignments with a veterinarian, hotel, or animal-friendly shelter outside the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Emergency Planning Zone. Here's a list of vet offices and kennels that may accept pets before the hurricane.
