Plymouth Residents Stuck With Late Tax Payment Fees

Those who failed to pay property and excise taxes by the deadline that was extended from March 10 to June 29 will be responsbile for fees.

PLYMOUTH, MA — Plymouth residents who failed to pay their excise and property taxes, or other town payments, by the deadline extended to June 29 will be forced to pay the ensuing fees.

Town officials said that the town is receiving a high call volume from residents charged with the fees. Residents are reminded that the Board of Selectmen voted to allow an option to waive interest and penalties with a due date on or after March 10 until June 29, but that bills paid after June 29 will be assessed late charges.

Bills not paid by June 29 were assessed a $15 fee.

"In accordance with (the) statue those interest penalties (or) fees cannot be waived," town officials said in a statement. "Since it is taking longer to return voice mails and emails about this, we wanted to provide that explanation here."
