Plymouth Roadway Paving Projects Begin This Week

South Street, Market Street, Pleasant Street, Union Street, North Green Street & South Green Street

The Town of Plymouth’s Department of Public Works (“DPW”) seeks to notify residents and visitors that, starting on Thursday, May 7, 2020, paving contractor Rochester Bituminous will begin work on the milling, leveling, and paving of the following roadway surfaces:

• Thursday, May 7 – South Street, from Sandwich Street to Nook Road

• Friday, May 8 – Pleasant Street, North Green Street, South Green Street, and Market Street (from Main Street to Summer Street); if time allows, crews will move to Union Street, from Water Street to Fremont Street

• Monday, May 11 – Union Street, from Water Street to Fremont (if not commenced on May 8th)

Barring inclement weather and unforeseen circumstances, the work required to resurface these roadways is expected to take several weeks, between May 7th and May 22nd. Work will be conducted Monday through Friday, during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The contractor, along with the DPW, will make every effort to keep traffic flowing in both directions, but detours may be required. In such instances, the DPW will work with the contractor and the Plymouth Police Department’s detail officers on the placement of barrels and detour signage, to keep traffic flowing as smoothly as possible.

The DPW will deploy message boards to alert motorists of this forthcoming work.

The public is advised to plan for traffic delays related to these projects.
