Plymouth Rock Comedy Fest Begins Wednesday

The Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival kicks off Wednesday for three days of laughs.

The Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival brings the best of stand up comedy to Plymouth.

Loretta LaRoche Productions will present its second annual Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival, showcasing three nights of comedic entertainment, Oct. 12-14 throughout various Plymouth locations. The three-day event will showcase some of the area’s funniest comedians displaying their material in a live, uncut forum.

Oct. 12, the festival kicks off with the “Ruffle Your Feathers” contest, in which six comedians – narrowed down from 20 by a public online voting forum – compete against each other for the number one spot. A panel of judges will determine the winner, who will receive the Turkey Egg trophy and become the opening comedic act for an upcoming LLP production. Hosted by comedian Dave Russo, this event will take place at Martini’s Bar and Grill at 8 p.m., and is free to the public.

A Facebook page was created where the fans had the opportunity to place their votes for the funniest comedians. The top six are: Brian Glowacki, Steve Scarfo, Mike McCarthy, Ethan Marsh, Ben Small and Brian Jones. To ruffle those feathers even further, organizers threw in a surprise Wild Card entry.

This event is free, and organizers urge spectators to get their early to ensure a seat.

The festival will continue Oct. 13 with the “He Said/She Said” Battle of the Sexes at the Radisson Hotel at 8 p.m. The show continues the age-old battle of man vs. woman. Two women and two men will use their razor wits to battle their opponents. In the end, the audience will chose the winner.

"If you’re ever been in a relationship, or wanted to run like hell from one, this evening is perfect for you."

Last year's festival winner Paul Keenan and Joe Yannetty will take the men's side, while Plymouth's own Christine Hurley and Jane Condon will battle for the fairer sex (of course no one promises to be fair).

The most outrageous event, “Raw Comedy,” will take place Oct.14 at Cabby Shack for two shows at 8 and 10 p.m. This is a 21-plus show in which comedians unleash their most uncensored opinions on stage for two shows, at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Leave the kids at home for this 21-plus night of comedy, shock, and debauchery. This uncensored evening is sure to leave your mouth dropping as you witness the unrefined antics of these foolhardy comedians," according to Plymouth Rock Comedy's website. Chris Zito will host the debaucery and comedians Kelly MacFarland, Kerri Louise, and Pete Costello will perform. Tickets for this show are $15.

The Plymouth Rock Comedy Festival was founded by Loretta LaRoche Productions to stitch together comedic talents and showcase them live. The festival is working in partnership with many Plymouth venues and benefits the Plimoth Plantation. More information, schedules and tickets are available at plymouthrockcomedyfestival.com.
