Plymouth South Beats Hanover In Football Season Opener, 34-13

Freshman running back Casius Johnson led Plymouth South to victory with his three rushing touchdowns.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth South Panthers Football team started their Fall II Football season on Friday Night in Hanover to face the Hawks.

In the first half, Plymouth South freshman running back Casious Johnson ran 74 yards for a touchdown to score first in the game. Plymouth South however got an extra point blocked by Hanover which made the score 6-0. Then on Plymouth South’s next possession, senior quarterback Hunter Dean fumbled, and Hanover recovered. Hanover came off the turnover and junior Dylan Rice had a 6-yard touchdown reception. Plymouth South would score another touchdown to make it 14-6 at halftime.

In the second half, Plymouth South Liam Davis scored on a 45-yard interception return touchdown. However, Hanover clapped back with a 90-yard kickoff return touchdown by Dylan Rice, but their extra point would be no good, score was Plymouth South leading 21-13. Plymouth South ran away with the game by scoring two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter and winning with the score of 34-13.

For Plymouth South, quarterback Hunter Dean had 45 yards rushing and one passing touchdown to junior running back Zachary Proctor. Casious Johnson had two other rushing touchdowns for the team with 4 and 39 yards respectively with 229 total rushing yards on 19 carries. Liam Davis and Zachary Proctor had the other interceptions for Plymouth South.

Plymouth South’s next game will be in Shrewsbury to play West Boylston High on Saturday, March 20 at 2 p.m.
