Plymouth South Beats Marshfield In The 2nd Round, 58-46

Plymouth South advanced to the third round of the Patriot Cup and will face North Quincy.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth South Panthers boys basketball team faced the Marshfield Rams on Sunday in the 2nd Round of the Patriot Cup. Plymouth South is the #3 seed in the Fisher Division and Marshfield is the #4 seed in the Keenan Division, so Plymouth South had home court in this matchup.

In the first half, Plymouth South had the first bucket of the game which was a 3-pointer from Hunter Dean. At the end of the 1st quarter, Plymouth South was up 16-7, scoring the last two buckets of the quarter. In the 2nd quarter, Plymouth South continued their 8-0 run until Jack Mitchelson made two free throws to end the run. At the end of the 1st half, Plymouth South was leading 26-19.

In the 2nd half, Plymouth South had a couple of scoring runs that sealed the victory for them. In the 3rd quarter, they went on a 12-3 run and in the 4th went on a 9-0 run. Plymouth South will end up winning, 58-46.

Seniors Robert Clarke, Chris Schena, and Hunter Dear all had solid games for Plymouth South. Clarke had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Schena had 14 points and 5 steals in the game. Dean was the leading scorer for Plymouth South by scoring 16 points.

Plymouth South will advance to the third round in the Patriot Cup to travel to North Quincy on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. North Quincy lost to Whitman-Hanson on Saturday, but since they were the #1 and #2 seeds in their respective divisions, the losing team still gets to advance to the 3rd round and the winning team goes to the Semifinals.
