Plymouth South Boys Hoop Falls To North Quincy, 57-39

The loss in the third round of the Patriot Cup ended the team's season.

PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth South Panthers Boys Basketball team traveled to North Quincy to face the Raiders in the third round of the Patriot Cup on Tuesday Night. Plymouth South is coming off a win against Marshfield on Sunday. North Quincy came off a loss to Whitman-Hanson, which was a battle of the #1 and #2 seeds. North Quincy is the second seed and Plymouth South is the third seed of the Fisher Division.

In the first half of the game, North Quincy started the game on a 8-2 run. Then Plymouth South started to catch up scoring 6 while North Quincy also scored 6 for the rest of the quarter. At the end of the first quarter, North Quincy led Plymouth South, 14-8. In the second quarter, Plymouth South scored 14 points and North Quincy scored 8 points, and Plymouth South would only be trailing by 1 by the end of the quarter. The score of the first half was 23-22 North Quincy.

The second half of the game would turn disastrous for Plymouth South as they allowed 19 points to North Quincy while scoring only 4 themselves in the quarter. In the 4th quarter, Plymouth South started to climb back by going on a 10-2 run, but North Quincy stopped the run and ended a game with a 7-0 run on their own to win the game. The final score was 57-39 North Quincy.

Freshman forward Daithi Quinn led the game by scoring 30 points for North Quincy. Senior forward Agu Ugwu contributed 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for North Quincy. Senior guard Matt Mahoney led Plymouth South with 15 points. Seniors Robert Clarke got 7 points and Hunter Dean scored 5 and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Plymouth South ended their boys basketball season by losing this game. North Quincy will face Hingham in the semifinals on Thursday. The winner of this game will face the winner of Plymouth North/Whitman-Hanson in the finals on Saturday.
