New Bedford Terminal Disaster Confirmed
7/18/2015 Massachusetts
First wind turbine customer a real bust.
The New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal is the biggest political and financial embarrassment in state history. It’s so bad the news media is burying their heads in the sand as well they should.
The Massachusetts news media unknowingly confirmed something drastic took place at the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal and the heavy wind turbine parts were never unloaded. The news media has established a record of producing “puff “ news stories aka news story or feature written to make the subject seem good. The news media has established a long history of omitting bad news about wind turbines. There was a big omission about the boat leaving, no pictures of parts and no news about the cargo ship being anchored going into the second week. All bad news your not going to read about in any news story in Massachusetts. I call it lying by omission proof of a disaster.
Massachusetts taxpayers are on the hook for 113 million dollars for several types of bonds to finance the incomplete New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center a state agency is the owner and operator of the ill fated terminal. The estimate is $187,500.00 per month for 30 years in bond payments. This is a bill the taxpayers have to pay.
The terminal still has no rail link, large heavy duty crawler/walking cranes and limited access to the ocean through a legal opening at the hurricane gates of 120 feet. A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center will only say the project is going into phase two. Massachusetts tax payers know what phase two means. Dig deeper !
In 2010 the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal was estimated to cost 35 million. Today the purchase of large crawler/walking cranes alone could cost as much as the original estimate of the terminal.
On July 6, 2015 New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell held a sort of welcome party for the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminals first customer.
A Hong Kong-based cargo freighter the MV Thorco Svendborg was and still is by all accounts still today carrying (4) Gamesa 97 two megawatt wind turbines. The turbines are for Con Edison Solutions for the Future Generation Wind Project in Plymouth .
The party and fanfare is long over as the Thorco Svendborg after leaving a few small token wind turbine parts at the terminal slipped out into Vineyard Sound where it sits anchored for going on into the second week.
Suspicions were raised when there were no 100 ton mono-poles for the turbines, gear boxes or blades weighing tens of tons. Suspicions were confirmed after seeing the Thorco Svendborg anchored 20 miles outside the Port of Providence, Rhode Island.
The New Bedford Engineering Division of the Department of Public Infrastructure today confirmed the transportation of the wind turbines are on hold.
The verbal statement is the transportation of the turbines are on hold. There is no future move date and Gamesa the wind turbine company is in charge of logistics.
Folks. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center is responsible for the poor placement of commercial wind turbines in many communities in Massachusetts. Falmouth is ground zero for poorly placed commercial wind turbines in the United States.
The MassCEC bribed the Town of Falmouth with one million dollars in renewable energy credits to buy a turbine owned by them that they couldn’t sell at auction. The MassCEC recently gave Falmouth 1.8 million dollars to help finance litigation costs over the illegal placement of Falmouth 1 & 2 wind turbines. They took the health and property rights of citizens for an agenda.
Today the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center continues making what they call “ mistakes. “ The state agency is out of control.
They used to say when this happened they are spending like a drunken sailor. ” Today we would suspect decisions are being made by crack heads.
State and federal agencies can get out of control. In 2008 the federal Minerals Management Service a government agency was found through an investigation that employees had p romiscuity, drug use, and bribery.
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center needs judicial and legislative oversight. The agency is out of control and the taxpayers of Massachusetts deserve better than the long string of financial irresponsibility.
The problem is simple. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center makes rash irresponsible decisions and then borrows tens of millions of dollars to fix the rash irresponsible decisions. They operate with the theory money will get you anything you want.
The money is being borrowed irresponsibly and you the taxpayers are going to have to pay back these bonds over thirty years.
Our state and local politicians and representatives have to hold these people responsible. If they can’t hold them responsible vote them out of office.
