Con Edison Solutions for the Future Generation Wind Project in Plymouth. How much just to get them to Plymouth ?

How many “mistakes” can the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center make ? Falmouth, Massachusetts has the worst placed commercial wind turbines in the United States and now the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal fiasco continues after Governor Patrick.

New Bedford Wind Turbine Cargo Ship: Who Pays for this “Economic Insanity ?”

The answer is one way or another You and I, Jill and Joe Taxpayers. Everyone else makes money !

The City of New Bedford has negotiated a 20-year power purchase agreement with Con Edison Solutions for the Future Generation Wind Project in Plymouth.

The New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal continues to drain taxpayer funds and tens of millions borrowed through various state bond programs. They can’t lease the terminal for as much as the state owes on the bond payments. The estimated bond payments are $187,500.00 a month for thirty years and the taxpayers are making the payments -no one will lease the port !

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center undertook the management of the development of the 113 million dollar Marine Commerce Terminal in New Bedford. The terminal sits incomplete today with no large walking /crawler cranes, no rail link and a narrow 120 foot wide legal clearance at the hurricane gates. “Jack-up” barges, a special type barge, worldwide do not fit through the gates.

The 400 foot long 63 foot wide Chinese cargo ship MV Thorco Svendborg left New Bedford after leaving a few small wind turbine parts at the New Bedford South Terminal after a brief stay at the terminal. Since July 9, 2015 the MV Thorco Svendborg has remained anchored for over a week about 20 miles South of Providence, Rhode Island.

The cargo ship Thorco Svendborg literally is carrying 4 massive wind turbines to be delivered to New Bedford by ocean and then on to Plymouth by land.

To date no one has seen the wind turbine blades, gear boxes or the massive 100 ton plus mono-poles. How do they lift the mono-poles off the ship and better yet where is there a bridge that can handle 100 tons of materials. If the boat is waiting in Limbo because they can’t offload the parts who pays ?

An international shipping company doesn’t anchor a 400 foot plus cargo boat for weeks on end for free !

Would you think that this is going to be a lawsuit ? The intended destination was New Bedford and the parts can’t be off loaded there ?

Did Con Edison Solutions the owners of the Plymouth wind farm rely on any assurances from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center ?

Does anyone think Con Edison Solutions loaded the components on a transport vessel shipping the turbines half way around the world and hope for the best ? Unlikely

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center a state agency owns and operates the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal. The terminal is owned by the taxpayers of Massachusetts. How did Con Edison decide to use the New Bedford Port and not the Port of Providence, Rhode Island like they did for the Fairhaven and Scitute turbines ?

Did Con Edison Solutions attempt to use the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal on a hand shake or a contract between themselves and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center ?

The taxpayers of Massachusetts are very well aware of the past “mistakes” made by the MassCEC. Falmouth is ground zero for poorly placed wind turbines in the United States.

Folks, It’s time for the taxpayers of Massachusetts to hold onto their wallets again. They don’t care ! It’s your money and they keep issuing bonds to pay again and again.

This economic insanity should not be tolerated !
