New Bedford “Turns The Page” Last Chapter “Worlds Collide”
New Bedford, Massachusetts July 26, 2015

It is true that politicians and the main stream mediacan “ turn the page” in order to hid the truth. You can only turn so many pages before the book comes to an end. The last chapter in New Bedford is called “Worlds Collide.”
The City of New Bedford is a classic example of multiple government failures, lack of investigative journalism and misappropriation of taxpayer funds.
Today we are all witness to the blame game over recent failures. The fault belongs to everyone in the city including the main stream media and their total lack of investigative journalism..
First the local media with their political view : “ Our political sympathies are in general much more aligned with the progressive policies of the Democratic Party, both nationally and statewide.” How’s that for investigative journalism ?
Since 2008 the news media reprinted news releases from former Governor Patrick as if they were real news items. The news media never told you the role Gov.Deval Patrick played at Ameriquest, a corrupt sub prime mortgage lender. You may be out of work today as a result of the sub prime mortgage failures.
The 650 million dollar casino failed in New Bedford in part due to the climate change agenda. For years the news media pushed the Governor Patrick message on Climate Change and sea level rises. In 2014 a climate change report was issued that showed New Bedford Harbor underwater in a Cat 2 hurricane. In 2012 a US Army Corps of Engineers had certified the hurricane barrier in New Bedford but had also certified the levies in New Orleans that wiped out all the river front casinos.Who in their right mind would finance a water front casino in New Bedford ? No one. Two different state agendas collided with each other. Climate change and waterfront casinos.
The next goal for the Gov Patrick administration was redirecting valuable infrastructure money from state agencies into so called renewable energy projects like the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal. For years the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, MBTA was denied upgrades and repairs. The end result is the state was left 1.5 billion in debt at the end of the administration. The funding set aside for SouthCoast Rail to New Bedford is now going back into basic infrastructure upgrades for the MBTA. Future projects like SouthCoast Rail are on hold. Two different state agendas collided with each other. MBTA and SouthCoast Rail.
The New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal an ocean wind port was estimated to cost 35 million in 2010. Today the port sits incomplete at 113 million dollars. The port still has a radio antenna on four acres of the property blocking the entrance with PCB toxins in the soil. The cost of moving the antenna is estimated to cost 10 million over the next two months. The rail link remain a quarter mile away from the terminal. The terminal still has no large walking/crawler type cranes. To top this off the hurricane gates only have a legal clearance of 120 feet in which wind turbine “jack-up” don’t fit through the gates. The only thing that will fit through the gates are cargo ships to drop off wind turbine parts.
A work of genius ? The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center will only say the project is going into “phase two.” Phase two at taxpayer expense !
The taxpayer bond payments now are $ 187,500.00 a month for thirty years. They can’t lease the incomplete port for more than the bond payments ! The port still needs tens of millions of new bonds to complete. Taxpayer need to dig deep for massive infrastructure mistakes !
During what the MassCEC calls phase two they are dropping 4 commercial wind turbines off at the New Bedford Marine Commerce bound to go to Plymouth over a land route from New Bedford. A first for New Bedford. Except one small problem the bridges and roads from New Bedford may not hold the weight of four massive 2 megawatt wind turbine parts reported to weigh up to 140 tons including the trucks.
Keep in mind that New Bedford was never the permitted site for Cape Wind. Quonset Point, Rhode Island had all the permits from the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and has the cranes and infrastructure today.
Finally today the USOC, U.S. Olympic Committee is voting on Massachusetts and the Boston Olympics. The group attempting to bring the 2024 Summer Olympics to Boston said that New Bedford will serve as the venue for Olympic sailing. The vote today appears to be a NO vote and the headlines Monday will spell more bad news for New Bedford. No Olympic sailing.
Massachusetts especially New Bedford has to remember one thing and that’s a lack of investigative journalism, following bunco schemes and failed agendas : “ Our political sympathies are in general much more aligned with the progressive policies of the Democratic Party, both nationally and statewide.”
“World’s Collide” the last chapter.
