Rockland Trust Hosts RockFIT 5K to Promote Physical Wellness
ROCKLAND, Mass. (October 15, 2014) – Rockland Trust today announced its second RockFIT Family Challenge 5k Run/Walk for Rockland Trust employees, their families, and the general public. The race will take place on Saturday, October 25th in Hingham’s Wompatuck State Park at 10:00 a.m. Anyone interested in participating can register by visiting www.RocklandTrust.comorwww.Active.comand search for RockFIT.
The Run/Walk is part of the bank’s Wellness initiative called “RockFIT”, which strives to support employees’ physical and mental wellbeing through fun, employee-focused activities and events. Rockland Trust began its RockFIT program in 2010 as a way to help employees stay healthy and engaged. All race proceeds will be donated to The Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse.

“At Rockland Trust, we are committed to helping our employees live active, healthy lifestyles, which is why we created RockFIT four years ago,” said Maria Harris, Vice President of Human Resources and Recruitment at Rockland Trust. “The RockFIT Family Challenge allows us to engage with our local communities while helping employees stay healthy at the same time.”
On race day, the RockFIT Family Challenge begins with a Kid’s Fun Run at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 5k Run/Walk at 10:00 a.m. In addition to the 5k race, there will be refreshments, and family activities such as face-painting and raffles. There is a $25 registration fee and the first 100 pre-registered runners will receive a free long-sleeved race shirt.

The Greater Plymouth Food Warehouse was formed in 2002 by the South Shore Community Action Council to provide nutritious food to emergency food assistance programs in a 25-town area in Massachusetts’ South Shore region. The Warehouse distributes food to food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, councils on aging, families participating in Head Start programs, low-income housing developments, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Adult day programs.
