Route 3 Will Close Early Sunday Morning
Hingham Municipal Light Plant will perform work to move aerial utility lines across the highway.

If you plan on travelling on Route 3 early Sunday morning, you may need to find an alternate route.
Route 3 in Hingham and Norwell will close in both directions from 11:59 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 to 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 26.

MassDOT said the “closure in both directions will allow the Hingham Municipal Light Plant to perform work to move aerial utility lines across the highway.”
Northbound traffic will be ”detoured off Route 3 at exit 14 for Route 228. Traffic will follow Route 228, and turn left on Route 53/Whiting Street; and turn left on Derby Street to rejoin Route 3 in the northbound direction.

“Southbound travel will be detoured off Route 3 at exit 15 for Derby Street. Traffic will follow Derby Street and turn right on to Route 228/Whiting Street; and right at Route 228 to rejoin Route 3 in the southbound direction,” said MassDOT.
