Sacred Heart School and Junior Achievement Team Up to Offer JA in a Day

Trained volunteers from Liberty Mutual donated their time to teach the Junior Achievement curriculum to the elementary students.

Sacred Heart School (www.sacredheartkingston.com), a private, Catholic, co-educational school for students in preschool through grade 12, recently collaborated with Junior Achievement of Northern New England to offer “JA in a Day,” a program that was implemented in all of the school’s elementary and kindergarten classes on Friday, May 8. JA in a Day is a full-day program that includes five lessons that support the mission of Junior Achievement: “to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Using hands-on experiences, JA helps to prepare young people for the real world by teaching skills in financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship.” Trained volunteers from Liberty Mutual donated their time to come to the classrooms and teach the curriculum to the Sacred Heart students as part of the program. Dr. Kim Stoloski, principal of Sacred Heart Elementary School, said, “Feedback from everyone involved has been beyond our expectations. Our students were actively engaged in the programming, and the volunteers were delighted at how brightly our students shined. Parents have been very impressed by the advanced real-world knowledge their children have come home with. “We are very grateful to Junior Achievement of New England and their volunteers who worked with our students to offer these lessons that will stay with them throughout their lives,” Dr. Stoloski added. About Sacred Heart School Sacred Heart is a private, co-educational Catholic school system, which provides educational opportunities for students throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, from preschool through grade 12. As a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Divine Providence, Sacred Heart School strives to inspire minds, define character and encourage responsible leadership through a curriculum that prepares students to pursue knowledge throughout their lives.
