Success in sports in High School is a good points maker for college scholarships. However, it is crammed with competitors. The more unique the sport, the fewer competitors there are. One sport that also commands attention, is Fencing. Formerly known as the Sport of Royalty, it is today available to any commoner. However, to be good at it, the Fencer needs to have a certain number of highly prized skills: quickness, problems resolving, analysis and action, all of which can be learned.
It just so happens we offer courses in Fencing (surprise?).
Joking aside, all my students over the years have reported an improvement in school academic standing after one year of Fencing. It works for adults as well.
For mature adults, we coined a motto: "Take Ten Years Off Age, and Add Them To Life".
