Selectmen Can't Agree on Trash Option

Curbside pickup for recycling or pay-as-you-throw are still two of the major options available for Selectmen.

Selectmen could not reach a concensus on whether to support curbside recycling  or the continuation of the South Street transfer station with a "pay as you throw" option. The town bought purple plastic bags for the second option several years ago before selectmen dropped the idea. The DPW still has the bags and donates them to neighborhood clean-up efforts.

Selectmen debated the re-application of a lease for Reliable Fish on Town Wharf. The discussion focused on an old issue - revising the lease policy. They voted 3 to 2 in favor of renewing the lease with a promise to revisit the issue again.

Selectmen recommended Town Meeting approve Article 34, with an amendment. The article would establish one permanent spot for memorials to military veterans. It specified Town Green off Sandwich Street. At the request of veterans groups, the article will specify Memorial Hall as the spot.
