South Shore Conservatory's Duxbury Music Festival Presents 10th Anniversary Kick-Off Weekend
Preview concerts expand DMF's reach to Boston and Plymouth
South Shore Conservatory’s Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) launches its 10th anniversary celebration with a special kick-off weekend from May 15 through May 18, featuring two preview concerts, a volunteer planning meeting and a private reception. The Festival’s celebratory season, held from July 17 through 31, will be one of sentimental renewal, featuring celebrated founding faculty members, renowned Russian pianist Oxana Yablonskaya and renowned Russian conductor/cellist Dmitry Yablonsky.
On Friday, May 15 at 6 pm, a DMF Preview Concert, hosted by Richard and Shelia Morse, will be held at Boston Financial Management, located at historic One Winthrop Square in Boston. This event marks the first concert of DMF’s 10th anniversary celebration. A reception follows the performance.
On Saturday, May 16, DMF organizers recognize and celebrate founding and leadership donors at a private reception, reflecting on the Festival’s past, present and future. This reception marks the unveiling of DMF’s plans for its 10th anniversary season, and its goals to sustain the Festival for another 10 years and beyond.

To support the Festival’s recent expansion to neighboring communities, a DMF Preview Concert will be held on Sunday, May 17, at 4 pm, at the beautiful Mirbeau Inn and Spa’s restaurant Henri-Marie in the Pinehills in Plymouth. Mirbeau Inn and Spa is the DMF Preview Concert host and sponsor. A reception prepared by Chef Stephen Coe follows the performance.
A well-anticipated event marking the Festival’s annual arrival, the DMF Annual Volunteer Meeting will be held on Monday, May 18, 9:30 am at the private Duxbury home of Karen and Harrison Wehner. The public is welcome to join Artistic Director Stephen Deitz as he speaks to guests about the exceptional performances and repertoire planned for the 10th anniversary season. DMF friends learn about exciting volunteer opportunities available to them this summer. The Festival benefits from tremendous community support, involving over 200 volunteers and over 2500 patrons each season.

Both upcoming DMF preview concerts feature celebrated chamber repertoire in a small and intimate setting, a hallmark of the Festival’s popularity. Appropriately titled A Trio of Trios from 1816 to 1990, the concerts’ repertoire includes Franz Schubert’s first string trio and the first piano trios of Sergei Rachmaninoff and Lowell Liebermann. Performers include DMF faculty members and past winners of Duxbury Music Festival’s solo and concerto competitions.
