SSC's Duxbury Music Festival Announces 2015 Tent Events Weekend

For music fans of all ages

South Shore Conservatory’s 2015 Duxbury Music Festival (DMF) Tent Events on the Duxbury Town Green are back, bigger than ever, with a total of four community events, from July 24 through July 26.

Now in its tenth anniversary summer, Duxbury Music Festival invites families to enjoy two special events for all ages. Disco Fever on the Green on Friday, July 24, 7 pm, features SSC faculty members performing danceable disco music including music of Chic, Barry White, ABBA, KC & The Sunshine Band, Bee Gees, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and others. FamilyFest on Sunday, July 26, 10:30 am, features Parents’ Choice winner Little Groove in an interactive kid-friendly concert. Afterwards, South Shore Conservatory offers movement, music and arts activities with a parade, food, refreshment and more.

On Saturday, July 25, from 6:30-10:30 pm, Rhythm & Blues on the Green features a buffet dinner and dance, complete with Island Creek Oysters, specialty champagne and dessert bars and music by In the House. This year’s theme is Capri. Proceeds benefit Duxbury Music Festival and South Shore Conservatory scholarships.

Rhythm & Blues on the Green Co-Chair Mary Steinke commented, “For ten years now, the entire community eagerly awaits for the Festival tent to go up on the Town Green each summer.”

Also on the Duxbury Town Green, the ever-popular Sunday in the Park on Sunday, July 26, 5 pm, features DMF student chamber performances in a free concert. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and picnics. Wine and drinks will be available for purchase, and Foodies Market will offer a limited menu, including lobster rolls and sandwiches, for purchase.

Duxbury Music Festival (DMF), entering its 10th season, is a celebrated program for solo and chamber instrumental performance unique to all of New England. Founded with the knowledge that music enriches the human spirit and upon the belief that this enrichment endures, DMF is an intensive 15-day program of chamber music, bringing world-renowned pedagogues and performers and aspiring young artists together in one of New England’s most beautiful bayside villages, Duxbury, thirty-five miles south of Boston and twenty miles north of Cape Cod.
