Tavares, MacGregor Win, Plymouth Votes Yes to Send NRC Letter

With 15.29 percent turnout, Plymouth elected Ken Tavares to the Board of Selectmen, and voted to have the Selectmen send a letter to the NRC.

Voters overwhelmingly chose to send ask the Board of Selectmen to send a letter to the NRC requesting that the federal agency suspend the relicensing of process of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant. The final vote, with all 15 precincts reporting, was 3,213 yeahs, to 2,222 nos. More than 59 percent of voters said they want the letter sent. Question 1 passed in every precinct.

In other races, Ken Tavares will get another chance to serve on the Board of Selectman. Tavares won in every precinct over challengers John Moody, Robert Morgan and former selectman Dick Quintal. Tavares received 2,397 votes to Quintal's 1,459, Morgan's 938, and Moody's 676.

Malcolm MacGregor won the Planning Board seat with 65.13 percent of the votes, 3,349 to 1,783 over challenger Ken Buechs.
