On Monday, March 19, 2012, The Dr. Richard M. Shiff Forum presents: Weston Wind Quintet at 7 p.m. in the Otto Fehlow Meeting Room at the , 132 South Street, Plymouth. This evening of chamber music is dedicated to our dear friend, Dr. Shiff, in grateful appreciation for his commitment to ensuring cultural programming at the Library.

The Weston Wind Quintet was formed in 1967 by first chair woodwind players of the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra.

The members include Michael Tabak, flute, who studied with Ruth Freeman (Musica Aeterna Orchestra) at the Juilliard School of Music and has been principal flute with the Fine Arts Symphony. Mr. Tabak is a practicing attorney. Oboist Elizabeth England, is an active freelance musician in the NE area and has performed with the Boston Lyric Opera and Boston Philharmonic.

She has been a guest artist at the Virginia Arts Festival. She is on the faculties of the South Shore Conservatory and the Community Music Center of Boston. She studied with Mark McEwen (Boston Symphony) while earning her bachelor’s degree in oboe performance from the NE Conservatory.

Danby Cho, clarinet, is a 4th year doctoral student at Boston University, working with Ethan Sloane and performing with the Boston University Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble. She has been an assistant for Ethan Sloane’s Clarinet Workshop at BU Tanglewood Institute. Samantha Benson, French horn, studied with Eric Ruske and Daniel Grabois, while earning her master’s degree at the Hartt School and her performance diploma at Boston University. She is a member of the New England Philharmonic. She is on the faculty of St. Georges School in Newport, RI, The Hotchkiss School in CT and Worcester Academy of Music. Self-taught bassoonist, Shu Satoh, trained extensively with Seizo Suzaki, principal oboist for Seiji Ozawa in the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra in Tokyo. He is principal bassoonist of the Newton Symphony, Waltham Symphony and Melrose Symphony and has performed at the Plymouth Public Library with Aujourd’hui Ensemble. He is chief scientist at Axcelis Technology, Beverly, MA.
