Whitman-Hanson Ends Plymouth North Boys Hoop Season, 71-62
Plymouth North did not go out without a fight in the semifinal loss.
PLYMOUTH, MA- The Plymouth North Blue Eagles Boys Basketball traveled to Whitman to face the Whitman-Hanson Panthers in the Semifinal in the Patriot Cup. Plymouth North came off from win against Hanover on Tuesday evening. Whitman-Hanson's previous game was a win against North Quincy in the second round and got to advance to the semifinals because they were one of the #1 seeds in the Patriot League.
In the first half, Plymouth North struck first on the scoreboard scoring the first two buckets of the game. Then between the teams they kept going back and forth doing their scoring runs. This led to the game being tied at 20 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Whitman-Hanson had a small 7-3 run to try to break away from Plymouth North’s defense. After that run stopped, Plymouth North made the last two buckets of the half to tighten Whitman-Hanson's lead to 5. At the end of the first half, Whitman-Hanson led 41-36.
In the second half, Whitman-Hanson would pull away with the game in the third quarter. In the third quarter, Whitman-Hanson scored 15 while they held Plymouth North to just 4 points in the quarter. In the fourth quarter, Whitman-Hanson would continue their scoring run which stopped at 19-4 when Plymouth North would make two free throws. That would start a 15-4 run, which was Plymouth North’s best attempt to a comeback. At the end of the run, Whitman-Hanson was up 63-56, Plymouth North’s smallest deficit since the beginning of the third quarter. Whitman-Hanson's defense would clamp down on defense and stop Plymouth North’s comeback. The final score of the game was 72-61 Whitman-Hanson.

Whitman-Hanson's senior captain Nate Amando led the scoring for the team with 26 points. Plymouth North’s seniors led the scoring with Julian Llopiz scoring 26 and Cam Shaughnessy scoring 16. Sophomore Josh Campbell chipped in with 11 points for Plymouth North.
Plymouth North’s season is over due to this loss in the semifinal. Whitman-Hanson will be facing Hingham in the Final of the Patriot Cup on Saturday at 6 p.m.
