Whiz Kids’ Accomplishment: Twins Caitlyn and Ella raised $190 to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association by participating in Methodist Nursery School’s MDA Hop-A-Thon. They raised this amount by collecting pledges for each time they hopped during a two-minute period. Ella hopped 122 times in two minutes; Caitlyn hopped 201 times.   

Whiz Kids’ Key to Awesomeness: According to mom Carolyn, “They are such successful fundraisers because we have a very generous family who the girls have wrapped around their fingers!  Part of it is due to the fact that they are hysterical to watch when they hop; very energetic with dramatic pauses full of giggling. Although they are quiet and shy around most people, they are quite boisterous and expressive when they are comfortable, so they had no problem asking people they knew for money.”  The Methodist Nursery School Teachers – Mary Kelly, Lynn Harlow, Nancy Abreu and Karen Davey – worked hard to help the kids understand, in an age-appropriate manner, that the MDA Hop-A-Thon was helping kids who were just like them but who were challenged by disabilities.  “I think that is one of the great aspects of Methodist; Mary, Lynn, Nancy and Karen do such a great job teaching kids, with so many different personalities, in an environment filled with joy, caring, respect and laughter,” said Carolyn.
