Woman Brings Dog Into Stranger's Home For Ring-Stealing Spree: PD

The dog wasn't charged in the crime.

MIDDLEBOROUGH, MA β€” A woman was arrested after allegedly breaking into a man's home with her dog and stealing rings.

Middleborough Police Chief Joseph Perkins a man on West Street called police to say a woman he didn't know and a dog were inside his home. A construction worker told responding officers the woman had just entered another home on West Street. The woman answered when police knocked on the door.

Police arrested the woman, identified as Kristen Chase, 41, of Middleborough. She is being charged with breaking and entering into a building in the daytime for a felony, trespassing, malicious destruction of property under $250, and larceny from a building.

Police said they found a 12-inch slice in the front screen door of the man's home, which was locked. Chase allegedly entered through that.

Chase was found to be in possession of multiple rings while being booked. The rings, which had been reported stolen, were returned to the victim.

Chase was expected to be arraigned at Wareham District Court.
