• SJC deals major setback to Quincy mayor's plan to erect religious statues outside public safety building (boston.com) — Quincy's plan to place two large Catholic statues outside the new public safety headquarters has been put on hold after the state's highest court upheld an injunction, citing likely constitutional problems and misuse of taxpayer funds. The ruling backs a lawsuit by 15 Quincy residents and keeps the statues from being installed while the case continues in Norfolk Superior Court, even as Mayor Koch vows to keep fighting.
   

• New England Aquarium returns four rehabilitated sea turtles to the ocean in fifth beach release of the season (hollistonreporter.com) — Quincy plays a quiet but important role in sea turtle conservation, with the New England Aquarium's local hospital treating cold-stunned Kemp's ridleys before they're released off Cape Cod. Four turtles rehabilitated in Quincy just returned to Nantucket Sound, while a few more remain at the Quincy facility under care and tracking to support long-term research.
