QUINCY, MA —Christmas may still be weeks away, but Quincy is already getting into the holiday spirit as the city prepares for its annual Christmas parade.
This year's winning theme, "Stars and Stripes & Christmas," was submitted by longtime Quincy resident Cathy Conti, who has spent years enjoying the parade with her family.
Conti's theme combines the magic of Christmas with Quincy's rich history and patriotic roots.
With the theme officially selected, community organizations can begin preparing their floats for a chance to win cash prizes and other awards.
A separate panel of judges will evaluate floats in the nonprofit and commercial categories.
This year's parade will take place Sunday, Nov. 29, marking the final formal event in Quincy's yearlong celebration of America's 250th anniversary.
Anyone interested in entering a float in the parade can contact Paul Doherty at the Quincy Parks Department at 617-376-1251 for more information.
