QUINCY, MA — As Veterans Day approaches, Quincy is preparing to honor the brave men and women who have served the nation with its annual parade and a special ceremony.
The celebration will begin Wednesday, Nov. 11, with the city's annual Veterans Day parade, stepping off from Quincy High School at 10:30 a.m.
The parade will proceed through Russell Park before turning right onto Hancock Street. Participants will stop at the World War I Monument for a wreath-laying ceremony honoring fallen service members before continuing to the World War II Memorial at the corner of Southern Artery and Hancock Street in upper Merrymount Park.
The tribute won't end with the parade.
A special ceremony will follow, featuring keynote speaker Lt. Cmdr. James Flaherty, a 30-year military veteran and captain with the Quincy Police Department.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin around 11:30 a.m.
The annual celebration offers residents an opportunity to come together, show their appreciation and honor the sacrifices made by those who have served in the armed forces.
