Baby Goes for Solo Ride in Uber

The parents apparently both got out to grab a drink, and the driver just took off.

The parents of a 9-month-old baby who was taken for a ride in an Uber were reunited with their child after what amounted to a simple mix-up, according to multiple reports.

The mother and father of the child had asked their Uber driver to stop at a Tedeschi's in Quincy for a drink Sunday night. Both parents got out and amid miscommunication from what the Patriot Ledger reported was a language barrier, the driver took off.

The driver apparently thought just the father was getting out, and that he was still dropping off the mother and baby in to their Whitman destination. Subscribe to Quincy Patch for local news alerts and newsletters

The parents called 911, and police used the Uber app to locate the driver along Main Street in South Weymouth. The driver was said to be shocked the baby was still along for the ride.

It was likely a five-star ride for the youngster, who was said to be safe and asleep in the carseat.
