Bomb Squad Called After Man Brings Grenade to Quincy Police Station

The man who brought in the grenade told police that he found it at a family home.

QUINCY, MA — A bomb squad was called in after a man brought a grenade to the Quincy Police Department.

At 12:14 p.m., a man entered the police station with what looked like a grenade. The man told police that he found the item outside a family home in Hanover and decided to bring it to the police station.

Police immediately brought the grenade outside, where a dog trained detecting explosive odor indicated to the presence of an explosive odor. A preliminary test by the Boston Police Bomb Squad indicated that the grenade was not a danger.

The Boston Bomb Squad recovered the item and will conduct further investigation., police said.
