Despite Protest, Richdale Convenience Gets Liquor License

QUINCY, MA — A Hancock Street store near the Quincy Center MBTA station is now able to sell beer and wine, despite protest some from some residents.

Tuesday, the license board voted to allow a liquor license transfer from Franklin Beer & Wine on Franklin Street to Richdale Convenience, according to the Patriot Ledger.

Owner Paritosh Patel said he plans on telling alcohol over the next few months.

Prior to the vote, the board read six letters from residents who were against the transfer. The letters said the transfer would add to existing problems surrounding public drug and alcohol use in Quincy Center. Another letter said the city needs to attract shopping diversity.

Police Chief Paul Keenan, who is on the board, disagreed with the letters.
