Japanese Restaurant To Debut In Quincy

QUINCY, MA — A new eatery is set to debut in Quincy this week.

Jūni, a Japanese restaurant offering a flexible take on omakase, will hold a soft opening Thursday at 6 p.m. The restaurant at 121 Hancock St. will offer first-come, first-served seating.

During its opening week, Jūni plans to operate from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

The restaurant will serve a 12-component, omakase-style platter for $69, according to a social media announcement. The meal includes sashimi, hand-roll components and other bites that diners can combine and eat in any order instead of receiving individual pieces from the chef.

Jūni is a collaboration between Chef Chris Chung of Cambridge restaurant Momi Nonmi and Ken of Tori Jiro.

Chung previously worked at Clio and Uni in Boston and operated the former AKA Bistro in Lincoln, according to Boston Magazine. He opened Momi Nonmi, a Japanese-style izakaya in Cambridge’s Inman Square, in 2017, according to Boston.com.

The restaurant also plans to introduce takeout boxes containing the same 12 components as its dine-in platter, although it has not announced when takeout service will begin.

The Hancock Street storefront is part of the Residences at Munroe Place complex next to the Quincy Center MBTA station.
