More Lead Discovered in Quincy Schools Drinking Water

With 16 of 20 Quincy schools reporting, nine water fountains and 71 sinks have high lead levels, the school district announced.

QUINCY, MA — With 16 of 20 Quincy schools reporting, nine water fountains and 71 sinks have high lead levels, the school district announced.

According to the results, the fountains have been shut down while the signs have signs that they are for hand washing only.

Chris Walker, a spokesman for Mayor Thomas Koch, told the Patriot Ledger that the plan is to repair the sinks and fountains over the next few months. That should solve the problem since the water supply itself does not have elevated lead levels, he said.
