New York Man Traveling to Quincy Caught With Nearly 50 Pounds of Pot: Police

Huilin Wu, 37​, was arrested following a traffic stop on I-95 in Rhode Island.

HOPKINTON, RI — A Brooklyn man on his way to Quincy was found with near 50 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Rhode Island, state police said.

Huilin Wu, 37, was arrested May 2 and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession with intent to deliver more than five kilograms of marijuana, according to the Rhode Island State Police.

At about 12:30 p.m., troopers stopped Wu for a traffic violation on Interstate 95 North, between exits 1 and 2. During a search of the minivan he was driving, troopers allegedly found 48 pounds of marijuana sealed in 43 separate vacuum-sealed bags stored inside laundry bags. Each bag of marijuana contained between 545 and 570 grams, state police said. Troopers also seized $498 cash.

Police say Wu was traveling to Quincy from New York City at the time of his arrest.

He was held overnight and arraigned Wednesday in Fourth District Court. He was ordered held without bail, pending further court action.
