Person Stole Street Sweeper In Quincy, Drove It To Medford

Police say the driver of the stolen sweeper nearly crashed into a State Police cruiser.

QUINCY, MA — Who would steal a street sweeper and drive it up a highway? That's what State Police investigators are trying to figure out.

Police received a report at about midday Easter Sunday that someone stole a street sweeper in Quincy and was heading up Interstate 93. State Police spokesman Dave Procopio told the Boston Globe that the sweeper was located in Medford and a state trooper driving in the area was forced to swerve out of the way after the sweeper drove toward the cruiser.

The sweeper then went down I-93 South and was found abandoned on Exchange Street at 12:11 p.m.
