Quincy Celebrates America’s 250th Birthday in Style

The City of Quincy is in the midst of a vibrant holiday celebration, honoring America’s 250th birthday with a robust lineup of festivities presented by Mayor Thomas Koch.

The excitement kicked off on July 3, 2026, when Mayor Koch and First Lady Christine Koch led a special cake-cutting ceremony at 3:00 p.m.. Despite temperatures soaring above 90 degrees, a large crowd gathered on the boardwalk to participate in the festivities. Attendees were treated to slices of a massive, custom-made cake provided by Montillio’s Bakery.

The event drew a variety of local figures, including elected officials, news media, and candidates seeking office this year, such as Adam Deitch and Greg Connor, both running for District Attorney for Norfolk County.

Following the ceremonial start, the celebration featured an array of entertainment from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., including:

• The Flagship Drumline
• Roaming jugglers
• A children’s magic show
• Musical performances by country singer Maggi Ryan and classic soul/R&B singer Dennis Taylor

The festival is set to continue through July 5th, with a packed schedule that includes the traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence. Festivities continue on July 4th from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., beginning with a DJ live stage.

This annual event continues to be a popular tradition in the city, following a highly successful multi-day celebration last year during Quincy's 400th-anniversary year.
