Quincy City Council Approves Tax Rate

The vote came at the council's Dec. 5. meeting.

QUINCY, MA — Get ready to pay more in taxes next fiscal year.

On Dec. 5, the Quincy City Council approved tax rates of $14.17 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for residential proprieties and $28.71 for commercial properties, the Boston Globe reported. Under the rate, the average home in Quincy with a value of $397,900 will pay $356.94 more in property taxes.

Some money from free cash will be used to offset the increase in the tax levy.
