Quincy Man Arrested After Five-Mile Chase Through Weymouth
John Distasio was arrested on multiple charges including failure to stop for police, impersonating a police officer and assault and battery.

WEYMOUTH, MA — A Quincy man allegedly took police on a five-milt chase through Weymouth.
John Distasio, 49, was arrested on multiple charges including failure to stop for police, impersonating a police officer and assault and battery. He was arraigned in Quincy District Court Thursday.
Wednesday afternoon, Weymouth police noticed a Ford commit a traffic violation on Mutton Lane. During a traffic stop on Washington Street near Pleasant Street, Distasio allegedly gave a different name and said he didn't have his license before driving away when the officer went back to his cruiser, according to a police report obtained by the Patriot Ledger.

At one point, Distasio traveled at 60 mph, and lit a blue flashing light on his dashboard to give the appearance of an unmarked police vehicle.
Due to traffic, police were told to stop giving chase once Distasio got to the Fore River Bridge. Quincy police located the suspect in his apartment.

Distasio is due back in court June 26.
