Quincy Man Drives Off Houghs Neck Pier

The SUV became submerged underwater and had to be removed from the ocean by a local towing company.

QUINCY, MA — A man drove his car through a fence and into the ocean off of Houghs Neck Pier.

Around 9 a.m., on Saturday, a 52-year-old Quincy man escaped from his SUV, which State Police told the Patriot Ledger was submerged underwater and had to be removed by a local towing company.

The man swam back to to shore and was taken to Boston Medical Center. Injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. Police did not release the man's identity, the Patriot Ledger reported.
