Quincy Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle

QUINCY, MA — A local man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Quincy Shore Drive late Friday night, State Police said Saturday morning.

At approximately 10:12 p.m. troopers from the South Boston barracks responded to reports of a pedestrian struck on Quincy Shore Drive at Alstead Street. Scott D. Rooney, 45, of Quincy, was found to have serious injuries and transported to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Rooney was apparently struck by a 2005 Saab 93 operated by a 31-year-old Quincy man. That man has not been charged as police investigate.
