Quincy Native Runs 12th Boston Marathon for Massachusetts Fallen Heroes

Massachusetts Fallen Heroes, an organization dedicated to honoring the Fallen, supporting Gold Star Families and empowering Veterans, is pleased to announce its 2017 Boston Marathon team of 23 deserving runners. One team member representing Mass Fallen Heroes this year and running his 12th Boston Marathon is Quincy native and resident, Patrick Foley.
Over the years, Patrick has raised nearly $200,000 for various nonprofit organizations and hopes to surpass the two hundred mark in benefit of Mass Fallen Heroes this year. With family members and friends who have served overseas, Patrick has always dedicated time to advocate for Veterans and Gold Star Families. Thus, Patrick’s decision to represent Mass Fallen Heroes in this year’s marathon was an easy choice.
“Pat is a good friend and relentless advocate for Veterans and Gold Star Families and I have the honor to call him a friend,” said Dan Magoon, Executive Director of Mass Fallen Heroes. “Pat and his family have done so much for us over the years and we are extremely honored that Pat has decided to join our marathon team this year.”

“Mass Fallen Heroes are a group of incredible people and an organization that I will support for the rest of my life,” said Patrick Foley. “Their efforts and support for Veterans and Gold Star Families is incomparable and I could not be more honored to represent them on Marathon Monday.”
Patrick has dedicated his time to other related nonprofits such as, The Fisher House and CarePacks. While Patrick’s brother was serving overseas from 2008-2012, his family got heavily involved with CarePacks and volunteered often to put together care packages not only for his brother, but the other troops serving with him who might not have otherwise received anything. Patrick has also raised significant funds for the Mass General Hospital Cancer Center, who helped a close member of his family when it was needed the most.
