Quincy Police Find Lead In 6 Jewelry Thefts
During four of the thefts, the woman placed a gold necklace around a person before stealing their jewelry, Quincy police said.
QUINCY, MA — Police are looking for a women they believe is responsible for six jewelry thefts this month. The woman is described as a heavy-set white or Hispanic women between the age of 30 and 50, with shoulder-length dark hair. Police said she's about 5-feet-six-inches tall.
According to police, the thefts happened between July 11 and July 23. In the first two incidents on July 11, the woman approached elderly residents and stole their jewelry, police said. Since then, police said every theft has followed a similar pattern.
Police said the women on four instances, pulled up in an SUV, asked the person to come toward the vehicle, and gave them jewelry, while simultaneously stealing their jewelry. During thefts July 6, 10, and 23, the woman placed a gold necklace around the person's neck before stealing their jewelry, while on July 23, the woman put jewelry in a woman's hand and hugged her before stealing her her bracelet, police said. During the first four thefts, the woman pulled up in a dark gray SUV, while the last two people to report the thefts reported the woman was driving a larger, black SUV.

"We originally indicated that we believed the suspects were possibly operating a dark colored Lincoln SUV," Quincy police said in a statement. "At this time, we are unsure if they are changing vehicles, based on the fact that our latest victims reported a black SUV and prior victims reported a dark gray SUV."
Police said they are also looking for the man who was driving the SUV. He's described as a Hispanic, under 6-feet-tall, with a medium build and short dark hair. In two instances, witnesses reported young children were in the car.
