Quincy Police Officer Strikes Man With Cruiser
A man in his late 70s is in critical condition after a police officer responding to a medical emergency struck him with their cruiser.
QUINCY, MA — A Quincy police officer struck a pedestrian with his cruiser, leaving the man in critical condition, according to police. Around 7:21 a.m. Wednesday, police were responding to a medical call, where CPR was in progress.
While driving to the medical scene, an officer struck a man as he crossed Independence Avenue near Goddard Street, according to police. Police said the cruiser's emergency lights were on. The man, who was in his late 70s, was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
Quincy police told Boston 25 News the officer was placed on leave. Weymouth police will investigate the crash.
