MainVest has announced a partnership with The Workroom, a female-focused coworking space. For as little as $100, everyday community members can invest in The Workroom to receive a share of their revenue. The Workroom, opening in early 2020 in Quincy, MA, is an inclusive space created with the needs of the everyday woman and entrepreneur in focus. As a working mother herself, Thomas knows too well the struggle of taking care of a family while building a business. In addition to amenities we’ve come to expect from co-working spaces, including a variety of meeting rooms, work spaces, and coffee, The Workroom will offer workshops and programming related to professional development entrepreneurial growth, fitness classes, and child care. According to Thomas, “The Workroom encourages women to no longer ask for a seat at the table but to create their own and bring other women along on the way to the top as well.” As a truly inclusive space, The Workroom will not exclude men: Thomas states, “ We welcome women and men who support the advancement of women. A truly gender-balanced society.” Thomas chose to open in Quincy after seeing a need for a coworking space outside of the city. There are plenty of options within the city, but with commutes rising in cost and congestion worsening, Thomas wanted to provide a space slightly outside of Boston, while still ensuring it’s easily accessible.

Thomas chose to work with Mainvest to fund the final stage of her buildout due to the sense of community and ownership that community investment provides. Mainvest is a community investment platform and Regulation Crowdfunding portal that empowers communities and small business entrepreneurs by allowing everyday Americans to invest in the local businesses they care most about and share in their wealth and success. Thomas is excited to allow her supporters to take a more active role in the company’s growth. Because The Workroom is dedicated to empowering others, Thomas feels that supporters will not just be investing in her business, but in countless future businesses as well.
