3 Charged In Separate Reading Drunk-Driving Incidents

Three people were charged with drunk driving. One struck the rear of a car twice and another hit a cement pillar, police said.

READING, MA — Three people were charged with drunk driving in the three separate incidents Saturday, according to police.

Police responded to a two-car crash on Washington Street at 5:49 p.m. The two cars, a gray Honda and a white Jeep, were damaged in the accident.

The Honda's driver, John Darcangelo, 33, of Reading, was arrested at the scene of the accident. Police said an initial investigation found that Darcangelo rear-ended the Jeep twice.

He was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of a dangerous weapon, according to police.

In another incident, police responded at 3:50 a.m. to 676 Main St. on a report of a car striking a pole.

Police found that a Chevrolet Malibu had hit a cement pillar. The car also struck a trash bin and a no-parking sign, according to police.

Yves Damas, 31, of Lowell, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.

In a third incident, police were conducting a routine traffic stop on a blue Nissan driving erratically on Haverhill Street. The driver continued onto Haverhill Street, through Salem Street near Route 95 South before coming to a stop at a gas station.

Police arrested the driver, Rebecca Dooley, 31, of Medford, and charged her with operating under the influence of liquor (second offense), operating negligently so as to endanger, marked lanes violation, and failure to yield at an intersection.

All three suspects are to be arraigned Monday in Woburn District Court.
