3 Reading Teens Appear in Boston Children's Theatre Productions
Aly Grindal, Page Axelson and Conor Sweeney will appear in 'Miss Saigon' and 'Legally Blonde.'

Boston Children’s Theatre (BCT) is offering something for everyone with this summer’s dynamic productions of MISS SAIGON and LEGALLY BLONDE. Featuring the extraordinary talents of Reading teens Aly Grindal, Page Axelson and Conor Sweeney, MISS SAIGON and LEGALLY BLONDE will run in rotation August 2 through 5 at The Governor’s Academy in Byfield.
16-year old Aly Grindal will be appearing in the Ensemble in MISS SAIGON. Aly was previously seen in BCT’s World Premiere play “Reflections of a Rock Lobster” and has also performed with BCT in “To Kill A Mockingbird.” With , she has appeared in “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “Amadeus,” and “The Grapes of Wrath.”

16-year old Page Axelson will be playing the role of ‘Paulette’ in LEGALLY BLONDE. Her credits include numerous productions at Reading Memorial High School including ‘Amadeus,” “The Little Prince,” “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “Chess,” and “The Scarlet Pimpernel.” She was also seen in “Dames at Sea,” “High School Musical” and “All Shook Up” at Five Star Summer Theatre Company.
Playing the role of ‘Warner’ in LEGALLY BLONDE is 16-year old Conor Sweeney. A student at St. John’s Prep, Conor has been seen in “The Last Days of Judas,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” and “Macbeth.” He has appeared in several productions at the Five Star Theatre Company including “Once on this Island,” “The Boyfriend,” “High School Musical,” and “All Shook Up.”

Nominated for 10 TonyÒ Awards, MISS SAIGON is based on the opera Madame Butterfly and tells a similarly tragic story of a relationship between an America GI and a Vietnamese girl. Written by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil, with lyrics by Boublil and Richard Maltby, Jr., MISS SAIGON is directed by Burgess Clark with musical direction by Austin Davy.
On the other end of the musical theatre spectrum, LEGALLY BLONDE is based on the wildly popular film starring Reese Witherspoon as ‘Elle Woods.’ Elle is a pink-loving effervescent sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend, and gains a lot more in return. Nominated for 7 TonyÒ Awards, LEGALLY BLONDE was written by Heather Hach with music and lyrics by Lawrence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. This high energy, leave the theater humming musical is directed by BCT Executive Producer Toby Schine with choreography by Carl Rajotte, Artistic Director of the Palace Theatre in Manchester, NH.
MISS SAIGON will be performed at The Governor’s Academy, 1 Elm Street, Byfield, MA. Performances are Friday, August 3 at 8 pm; Saturday, August 4 at 2 pm; and Sunday, August 5 at 8 pm. Tickets are $25 and $20 for adults and $15 and $10 for students.
