Today is Monday, April 11. Here are five things you need to know:
- Weather: Let's start with the good news. The high today may reach the highs 70s. The bad news: Expect a mostly cloudy day with a chance of morning showers.
- Bank robbery: Saturday was a busy one for North Reading Police. The and set off an exhaustive search by North Reading, State and area police. The FBI is investigating the robbery with North Reading Police.
- On the agenda: The School Committee meets at 7 p.m. at the Large Group Room. A public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2012 budget is among the agenda items. At 7:30 p.m., the Historical Commission meets at the Damon Tavern.

The brochure is available on the department’s website, and registration for various programs may be done online, over the phone or in person at .
- Houston, we have a problem: On this date in 1970, Apollo 13, which was supposed to be the third lunar landing mission, launched from Cape Canaveral, FL. After one of the ship’s command module oxygen tanks exploded April 13, the mission was scrapped and plans were developed to bring the three astronauts home safely. Astronauts James Lovell, Fred Haise and John Swigert were forced to utilize the ship’s moon landing module as a lifeboat for nearly 90 hours before re-entering the earth’s atmosphere, even though it was only designed for two men for 45 hours. On April 17, the stricken command module splashed down safely in the Pacific Ocean.
