5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 5

Your daily digest of what's going on in North Reading.

Today is Tuesday, April 5. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Yet more rain: According to the National Weather Service, rain and thunderstorms are likely in the morning, and then rain after 11 a.m. The high temperature will be near 58 degrees. New rainfall amounts will be between one-quarter and one-half inch, according to the forecast.
  2. On the agenda: The Community Planning Commission meets in Room 10 at at 7:30 p.m.
  3. Happenings at the library: The Lego Club meets from 4-5 p.m. at the . At 7 p.m., the Evening Drop-In Book Group meets in the Library Activity Room. All are welcome to this meeting, which will discuss Little Bee, by Chris Cleave.
  4. Update on the Berry property: Have you been curious about what is happening with the undeveloped piece of land next to Edgewood Apartments, the remaining portion of the J.T. Berry Rehabilitation Center property? Patch went looking for answers. Check back at 11 a.m. to see what we found.
  5. James Brown keeps the peace: On this date in 1968, James Brown performed a concert at the Boston Garden the day after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The concert, which was broadcast locally on television, was widely credited with keeping the peace in Boston while many other cities dealt with unrest following King’s murder.
