Today is Monday, March 14. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Mostly cloudy today: According to the National Weather Service, there will be a slight chance of snow showers between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high temperature near 39 degrees. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low near 23, according to the forecast.
  2. Special Town Meeting is tonight: A special Town Meeting will vote tonight on funding the town’s obligation under the Quinn Bill educational incentive for eligible police officers. A quorum of 150 people is needed for Town Meeting to vote on the one warrant article. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at theauditorium.
  3. Nomination papers due tomorrow: If you wish to seek an elected position in the May town election, 5 p.m. tomorrow is the deadline to turn in nomination papers to the Town Clerk’s Office. Candidates must obtain the signatures of 50 eligible voters. One seat is up for election on the Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Community Planning Commission, as well as a one-year term for town moderator.
  4. Battery check: When you set your clocks ahead one hour, it’s also a good time to check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. If you didn’t do it over the weekend, take a few minutes to check the batteries this week and change them if needed.
  5. It’s all relative: On this date in 1879, Albert Einstein was born in Germany.
